Apple Commission

So here again with the green, but I'm getting a little tired of it. After this I'll give it a bit of a hiatus. This painting was commissioned by my 5 year old son Ryan. He wanted me to do a close-up of a cut apple and seeing how he is an Apple-holic as well as sugar-holic this commission makes sense on that level. I'm happy with the painting and the brush work. The seeds did give me a spot of concern - when I cut the apple most of the seeds fell out so what to do? I took some rubber cement and glued one of the seeds back in place so I'd remember to include it. And funny thing about cut apples - they turn brown and so toward the end of the session this rubber cemented oxidized apple wasn't looking nearly as good as the painting. I'm just happy that I'm not painting past 11 like last night!

Great daily paintings, Trevor. Good for you! I just had to mention that lemon juice will stop an apple from browning (in salads or in still life paintings!) Keep up the good work!
