Fork Knife Spoon - SOLD

So I went with some silverware. I really like the shapes they make both negative and positive. However, one of the problems with painting something so rigid is first you have to get your drawing right and then you have to worry about it being too tight and stiff. So here it is - at the end I violated a few of the boundaries bringing the background color into the object. It was an optical illusion that was actually visible but of course I exaggerated it a bit.

Nice edges, I don't think it's too stiff, but you could also try taking a wide-angle shot with your camera to get more interesting perspective. Then you can always color-correct the image to your still life before painting it...

Might also be cool to make this theme into a tryptich with a straight-down shot on each utensil!

Thanks Matt - those are some good suggestions. All of these still lifes have been from life, but I like the wide angle lens idea.

BTW those are some great figure drawings you've posted. Nice!

Very nice painting. I love the background colour you chose, really sets them off. I find painting silver difficult but you did a great job.
